ANNIHILATE THE DRESS CODE

Everyone has had bad experiences with recruiters.  They get lied to, jerked around, and then the recruiters’ firms take too much money out of their paychecks.  But how often does anyone have the chance to screw with a temporary staffing agency themselves?  I eagerly got my chance.  I went through a staffing agency to work as a quote writer in a far northern suburb.  It was boring work and the hours were terrible, the commute was terrible, and they took too much out of my paycheck.  The staffing firm also started firing people in the sales department in the middle of the night after only a few weeks on the job.  I knew it was a bad deal so I started rebelling.  I’d show up late, just make my quota, and wear a t-shirt and jeans to completely annihilate the dress code.  On casual Fridays, I’d show up in a Hawaiian shirt.  I’d take bathroom breaks every 6 and a half minutes because I could.  Finally, I just stopped showing up and when they called me about it I claimed I’d given them notice, which I had.  I had called and left a message in the middle of the night saying I was pursuing other opportunities.
